Background & Rationale

Interior Design as an Economic Force

The Interior Design Summit 2026 is Kenya's premier platform for advancing the interior design profession into a recognised driver of economic growth and national development. It brings together industry leaders, policymakers, investors, manufacturers, developers, educators, and design professionals to shape the future of the built environment.

Interior design is no longer defined solely by aesthetics β€” it is an economic force that influences investment, real estate value, manufacturing, tourism, hospitality, health, and quality of life. It is also a frontline industry for sustainability: every material specified, every product sourced, and every space built carries an environmental footprint. The 2026 Summit explores how the profession can transition into a structured, sustainable economic sector through four strategic pillars:

01

Policy & Regulation

Advancing professional recognition through policy dialogue, regulatory frameworks, and institutional collaboration.

02

Professional Capacity

Strengthening technical excellence, entrepreneurship, leadership, innovation, and sustainable business practices.

03

Market Integration

Connecting designers with manufacturers, suppliers, financiers, developers, and clients to unlock new commercial opportunities.

04

Sustainability & Circular Economy

Embedding zero-waste design, material reuse, and circular sourcing as standard practice across Kenya's interior design industry.
