The Interior Design Summit 2026, organised by the Interior Design Society of Kenya (IDSK), is entering its final day at Sarit Expo Centre, Nairobi, after several days of industry discussions, workshops, exhibitions and professional engagement.
Running from 26–30 August 2026 under the theme “Building the Interior Design Economy,” the Summit has brought together interior designers, manufacturers, suppliers, development partners, educators, students and other built-environment stakeholders.
The event has focused on strengthening the economic role of interior design in Kenya and creating stronger connections between designers and the wider industries that support the development of interior spaces.
Building the Interior Design Economy
The Summit opened with a strong focus on the relationship between interior design, local manufacturing, enterprise development, technology and professional practice.
Discussions examined how designers can create greater economic value through stronger businesses, closer relationships with manufacturers and suppliers, better use of technology and increased participation in construction and development projects.
The conference also created space for designers to discuss emerging issues affecting the profession and the future regulatory environment for interior design in Kenya.
Connecting Designers with Industry
A major objective of IDS2026 has been to bring different parts of the interior design value chain into one space.
Interior designers influence decisions involving furniture, finishes, lighting, kitchens, flooring, materials, technology and many other products used within buildings.
Creating stronger connections between designers, manufacturers and suppliers can therefore help increase demand for locally produced products while giving designers access to better technical information and sourcing opportunities.
Throughout the Summit, participants have been able to engage directly with industry partners and exhibitors through the wider Homes & Gardens Expo.
Practical Learning and Industry Development
The Summit has also included practical workshops designed to strengthen professional skills and expose designers to developments in business, technology, materials and circular design.
These sessions have complemented the main conference by giving participants more focused opportunities to interact with specialists, suppliers and fellow professionals.
For IDSK, the Summit forms part of a wider effort to strengthen professional development, industry collaboration and opportunities for both practising and emerging interior designers.

The Interior Design Summit 2026 concludes tomorrow, Sunday, 30 August 2026, at Sarit Expo Centre.
The final day provides another opportunity for interior designers, students, suppliers, manufacturers and members of the public interested in the industry to visit the exhibition, interact with participating brands and connect with the interior design community.
As IDS2026 moves into its final day, the broader conversation remains clear: Kenya’s interior design sector has the potential to support stronger businesses, create employment, stimulate local manufacturing and contribute more significantly to the country’s wider creative and construction economy.
