IDSK President Cecilia Mbati Joins Industry Stakeholders at Luxury Living & Design Expo 2026 Launch

Cecilia Nakhungu Mbati, President of the Interior Design Society of Kenya (IDSK), joined property, architecture, construction and design stakeholders at the launch of the sixth Luxury Living & Design Expo 2026 in Nairobi.

Held at the Village Market Rooftop from 31 July to 2 August 2026, the three-day expo brought together professionals and businesses working across property development, architecture, interior design, construction, landscaping, exterior design and luxury living. The event was organised in partnership with BuyRentKenya and the Kenya Property Developers Association (KPDA).

Connecting Interior Design with the Wider Built Environment

Cecilia Mbati’s participation represented IDSK’s commitment to strengthening collaboration between interior designers and the wider property and construction ecosystem.

Interior design is closely connected to architecture, real estate development, construction, furniture, finishes, lighting, landscaping and building services. Platforms such as the Luxury Living & Design Expo create opportunities for these different parts of the built environment to exchange knowledge, develop partnerships and present integrated solutions to homeowners, investors and project developers.

For IDSK, such engagement is essential to positioning interior designers as important contributors throughout the development process—not only during the final decoration of a completed space.

Creating Opportunities for Designers and Businesses

The expo offered visitors access to professionals, products and services for residential, commercial and investment projects. It also provided participating businesses with an opportunity to engage homeowners, property investors, developers and other project decision-makers.

This approach aligns with IDSK’s work to expand professional and commercial opportunities within Kenya’s interior design industry. Through initiatives such as the Design Advantage Programme, the Interior Design Directory and IDSK industry events, the Society connects designers, suppliers, manufacturers and project partners.

Building a More Connected Design Industry

IDSK continues to engage stakeholders whose work influences Kenya’s homes, offices, hospitality spaces, retail environments and public buildings. Participation in events such as the Luxury Living & Design Expo helps ensure that interior design remains part of wider conversations about property development, investment, construction quality and the future of the built environment.

By building stronger connections between interior designers and related sectors, IDSK is helping create a more visible, organised and economically active interior design industry in Kenya.
